Happy Spring Festival to All!
The MSN Spaces is making great changes these days, it cannot be used as smooth as before...
So my entry is short.
Today, i received a postcard mailed from HSC,haha, i am quite happy. Change is good!
quote Change is good! January 24 They can be mixed: Music & HSC!
January 23 After i went to Chinaren Alumnii went Chinaren today and went to my junior high school class's page. i am the admin, so it is my duty to check the newcomer who wants to join could be permitted.
The ID is Shanghai No.10 middle school... And there is a link. i tried to see the website. Wow! It is really my Alma Mater.
i saw great changes in my school not only the appearance but the news as well.
Unexpectly, our physicis teacher Mr. Ding is now teaching in Yunnan to help the poor there. There r some picts. i found he becomes older. Many people went to the poverty place to teach in order to get some political capital. After they back to Shanghai, they will hv a different kinkd of life. But Mr. Ding is old enough to retire. What else he can get from his action? Nothin. So i was so impressed.
Teaching
Cooking by himself Besides, i also see many of my teachers photos on it... moved again...
Our maths teacher These days™ need to memorize!!! January 22 Music Trip to Shanghai Oriental Art Centeri am so lucky to hv a chance to visit Shanghai Oriental Art Center. 'Cos there was a cherity performance there on Jan 21th. Viewed from above, Shanghai Oriental Art Center is like five blossoming petals, which constitute respectively the entrance hall, Oriental Performance Hall, Oriental Concert Hall, Exhibition Hall and Oriental Opera Hall, forming a beautiful butterfly orchid in full bloom. Atcully when i moved close to it, i found it was like a bowl...
Inside, the design is quite modernism. It isnt the kind i like... the kind i like belongs to Shanghai Music Hall and He Luting Music Hall. The performance was held in Oriental Concert Hall, this hall is quite special. The auditoria is design to make best use of the hall so the audience can see each other from the opposite side.
It wasnt beyond my imagination the performance wasnt very good, but i was happy to see the big organ.
January 17 How i got smart (Maybe u will find it is familar)A common misconception among my friends and classmates is that i were intereted in medical and biology naturally. Who else but a person who is fond of animals like one of my cousin, or one who's careful and humanistic, would grow up to be a biologist or a doctor anyway?
i've tried to explain to my friends and classmates that the image that have of me as an enthusiastic devotee of medical and biology wasnt the whole.
i love science, but i am not a devotee. But in my sophomore year, sth. beautiful and excited happened. Cupid aimed his arrow and struck me right in the heart. All at once, i tended more and more to concern on things about medical and biology. i enjoyed going to attend any activities of HSC, if only to gave him an admiring glance.
My idol was a doctor, and also one of the teachers of HSC club. Alas, he was far beyond my wildest dream. We were separated not only by age, but by the knowledge gap of medical and biology. He was a professional, for i am only an amatuer. But he is the right type i admire.
i schemed desperately to bridge the gulf. And on day, as i was passing the bookshelve of the library, an idea came to me. A sign in the shelf announced that a book on medical can be borrowed.
i borrowed it- Evolution and Healing-and began my venture into the world of medical and biology knowledge.
![]() i would henceforth become a seeker of medical and biology. i would become a smart girl and sweep my idol off his feet with a surge fo eruditon. i had it all planned. This isnt an esay book to read, it explained 'Why and How Does Disease Still Exist?'. i tried my best to catch the meaning of it, kept clear note and renewed the book again and again in order to focus on each details of it. i have got a chance to show what i've learned was the forum of HSC, so i write sth. of my understanding of the cause of leukemia and got the recognition from him on the forum.
And so it went, that glorious, joyous, romantic time. i enjoyed taking part in the lectures and services of HSC. The more i learned, the more my confidence grew.
But what i failed to perceive was that he was married. The revelation hit me hard, it was Dec.29th, 2005, and for a while i felt like forgetting everything i had learned. i returned the book to the library though i still haven't finished reading it. i felt hurt, in addition, i got to know that he newly has his twin sons. Thank God, noun drastic consequences happened.
i tried to forget it and focus on my study and recovered from my wounds as soon as possible. But how can one forget another so quickly? How can my idol become no more than a memory?
Miki, Fiona, Twoo, Fay, Echo and other friends suggested that i will meet better in the future. Is it really right?
Alough the origianl incentive was gone. i continued poring over the books on medical and biology, as well as an increasing mumber of other info abt these fields. And i still take part in the activities in HSC and its forum. The day before yesterday i learned sth. new about Glivec and Novartis. It is also about leukemia.
Today i have found some actor's lines in a TV series was so classical: Meet the right person in the right time. In this series i still heared the familiar console "you will meet better in the future" . i dont think it is a truth.
i copied the pattern of Text"How i got smart" of 21th century college English Book 3. It was origally written by Steve Brody. When i prepared for my English final exam i was moved by this text 'cos i hv resonance of it. So i revise it. January 13 2005 Annual Meeting of Shanghai HSCJan 8th
i went to West Shanxi RD. to take part in the annual meeting of Shanghai HSC denor Club today.
i left home at abt 11 AM and arrived at abt 12:30.
Rain gave me a bag, i found a leaflet of our club and somethin else of Shanghai HSC.
There is no special table for newcomers. So i wanted to join Group 1 for i knowing Lee XiaoQi.
There hv already been so many members of Group 1. i saw Lee and her friends...
In the whole meeting place, being together with so many good friends in the club, i could feel a surge of warm current.
i am not the member of Group, but i still listened to Da Mao's words carefully. He suggested a person who hasnt worked for a long time would be "discharged". At abt 1 PM, the annual meeting began officially. Our secretary-general and the official from Shanghai Red Cross preside the first part of the meeting.
Today, we also met our friends who are also do the HSC working in other cities. They r from Beijing and Ningbo...
Then it was the performance time, all the well-prepared performance made us all smile. i met LeLe, Zui Yu, Sea Breeze, Mr.Q, Tian di dan xin and etc. So many person of our big family.
Forget to say, today is Mengla Huang's birthday. Happy birthday to him. Also many thanks to Rongrong for giving me the impt address. January 07 A Cello Recital of Wen-Sinn YangGot the news that Wen-Sinn Yang will hv his recital in Heluting Concert Hall, i arrived there with Fay after a tough search for it.
It was raining and windy this Wednsday, and the traffic was terrible that day, so we merely rushed to Shanghai Conservatory of Music on time.
Yang's recital was free, but he still played it by heart. His bow even injuried by Bach's unaccompanied cello suite. He cannot speak Chinese, so the music is the only language he can use express his feelings.
The songs of the recital was the work of Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Elgar and etc. These famous masters' pieces made us absorb in the world of cello.
Though cello isnt my favourite musical instrument, i still enjoy listening to it.
The only fly in the ointment was we sat before a little boy who was so naughty and nosiy.
But the circumstance in Shanghai Conservatory of Music had influenced me again. We idled in the campus without caring the cold and rainy weather and the black sky. January 02 Riding alone for Thousands of Miles: a journey to find soul
i saw <Riding alone for Thousands of Miles> today afternoon. It is a touching human story. It had its worldwide premiere at the 18th Tokyo International Film Festival the past October. i was totally moved by this. It is the most touching film i've seen these days. And the deep thought is obviously happened in our normal life. We wear a mask in our life. We try to avoid our real emotions and feelings. We cheat ourselves. The director Zhang Yimou himself said,"This film is a smaller budget art film, more similar to my previous work," he said. "It's about the relationship between a father and a son and it will be a serious drama, very realistic and very much rooted in contemporary China. But I don't rule out the potentiality that in the future, I'll go back to making another martial arts film." BTW, i also saw <Wuji-the Promise> today, it isnt a good film and i dont like it.
It is the story of <Riding alone for Thousands of Miles>: In Japan, a village fisherman, Gou-ichi Takata (Ken Takakura), is summoned to Tokyo by his daughter-in-law, Rie (Shinobu Terajima), when her husband, Ken-ichi (Kiichi Nakai), is hospitalized with liver cancer. Father and son have not spoken in 10 years, and Rie reckons this an ideal time for reconciliation; but from his veiled hospital bed, Ken-ichi rejects the possibility outright. However, before Gou-ichi leaves, Rie gives him a videotape. Back in the countryside, Gou-ichi watches the tape, shot by his son in the southern Chinese province of Yunnan as part of a research project into Chinese folk arts. The tape includes an unsuccessful attempt by Ken-ichi to cajole (from behind the camera) the region's finest singer into performing a classic operatic ditty about friendship entitled "Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles." Claiming a heavy cold impairs his voice, the singer, Li Jiamin (a Beijing Opera performer, playing himself), won't comply but invites Ken-ichi to film him when he next visits. Moved by the impossibility of his bed-ridden son ever returning to Yunnan, Gou-ichi decides to travel to China and film Li's performance himself. This is despite the fact he can't speak Mandarin and has no knowledge of Chinese music. Arriving in Li's village, Gou-ichi learns, via halting Japanese from a colorful local named "Lingo" (Qiu Lin), that Li is unavailable. Turns out the master-actor/singer is serving a jail-term for stabbing a supporting player who taunted him about his siring a bastard son. Though the song is to be performed in an opera mask, Gou-ichi will accept no substitutions: He asks to visit Li in jail. Bureaucratic opposition is unexpectedly overcome, but when Gou-ichi reaches the prison and the camera is ready to roll, Li is unable to perform. Moved by Gou-ichi's estrangement from his son, the singer becomes grief-stricken about his own (unseen) 8-year-old boy . Envious of the actor's emotional facility, the more withdrawn Gou-ichi sets his mission aside in order to unite Li and his illegitimate son, so the thesp will be able to perform the song. This last leg of Gou-ichi's journey, taking him to the remote Stone Village where the boy (Yang Zhenbo) resides, occupies the last third of the picture. There's more humor during this section, though the final reel, as in "The Road Home" and "Not One Less," packs a powerful emotional punch that will leave many viewers misty-eyed. Though both Qiu, as the interpreter, and Yang, as Li's young son, are born scene-stealers, pic hangs -- as it was designed to -- on the commanding perf of Takakura. Takakura brings an almost John Wayne-like quality to the stony-faced character of Gou-ichi, silently communicating the fisherman's sorrow with eloquence .
